Politically incorrect-To catch a thief

The Congress/UPA government is in dock as the Supreme Court rules against the appointment of Thomas as Central Vigilance Commissioner, our country’s watch dog for corruption, as he (Thomas) himself is involved in corruption in the past.

The penal appointing CVC had three members- Dr. Manmohan Singh, P. Chidambaram and Sushma Swaraj, opposition leader. In spite of the fact that Swaraj had given her dissent, the penal went ahead and appointed Thomas as CVC. Later, when there was public outcry against his appointment, congress came out with the lame excuse that they were not aware or they were not informed about the Palmolein case charge sheet against Thomas. Respected Sri Pratyush Sinha, a former CVC said that if someone had told them about the charge sheet against Thomas, that would have made them think.

The statement means that someone (anyone) should tell the penal appointing CVC that it should look into the past profile of the candidate. If somebody (anybody) doesn’t inform or instruct the penal, the candidate is granted to have impeccable character. The penal, of its own, will not make any effort to find an appointee’s past.

Anyway, the Supreme Court has quashed Thomas’ appointment and declared it as “illegal.” However, the Congress has made one grave mistake in declaring that they were not aware of the allegations against Thomas. They could have very well defended themselves by confirming that they were in full knowledge of Thomas’ past corrupt activities. And that was precisely the reason they had chosen him as CVC, to watch for corruption. His expertise in the matter of corruption would come handy in catching the corrupt. It is a pure and simple principle of “set a thief to catch a thief.” Who could object?

Indian Politics-Rane, keep quiet

The person or the teacher, who taught our nano Rane to speak, didn’t teach him what to speak, when to speak and when not to speak. It seems Rane is in full swing these days. Sure, we all know that politicians have to speak, that is their first and foremost requirement. But at times, when and if the situation demands, he has to keep quite. Rane has a lot to learn in this regard from Dr. Manmohan Singh.

A few days back, Rane has alleged to have said in a function that “women should look after their children and work in their kitchen.” Quite true Mr. Rane, we also concede that women should look after their children and work in their kitchen. The only problem is Rane doesn’t practice what he preaches. For the same reason, his wife has left her children and her kitchen and is the president of some educational mandal (forum). Not only that, she runs a restaurant in place of education and earns decent income out of that, so much for dear nano Rane’s statement. Perhaps his speeches are for others to follow, not his own family. Or perhaps he doesn’t no his own mind.

But never mind, Rane being Rane, may well argue that in that restaurant too, Mrs. Rane looks after the kitchen herself. So in away she is involved with kitchen, here or there doesn’t matter. On the contrary, you may call it an extended kitchen. We are prepared to buy that, Mr. Rane.

But what about children? May we suggest she opens a crèche in that restaurant she is running? That way, both commands of Rane for women will be fulfilled. Mrs. Rane will be working in restaurant kitchen and looking after children in crèche, whether her own or others doesn’t matter. What say, Rane?

Politically incorrect-Nano Narayan Rane

Nano (literally) Narayan Rane, our state industries minister, is once again in limelight for his nano tricks. For a man who doesn’t talk nano when it comes to transparency and honesty of other government people, he himself doesn’t hesitate in using nano tricks when it comes to his own personal gain. This time, his nano wife Neelam, who is the president of Sindhudurg Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, misused a plot given to her organization for educational activities by converting the same into a hotel and earning a nano income for her personal nano gain. The plot was allotted when our nano Rane was nano Chief Minister then.

Earlier too, nano Rane’s nano son, Nilesh was involved in a nano firing incident in which one of his own party worker was injured. It appears to me that all nano members of Nano Rane’s family are involved in nano nano scams.

Coming back to Four Bunglows, Andheri plot, where the hotel stands. It appears that in 1999, the then CM, Narayan Rane arranged for a plot for his wife’s organization within a month of applying for it (a jet set speed) at Rs. 9850 yearly rent. Later she applied for the same plot to be used for business purpose which was immediately sanctioned (naturally) at the revised rent of Rs. 24570 annually. The location of this plot would fetch rent in Lakhs otherwise. All this, with nano blessings of nano Rane, who otherwise preaches for honesty and transparency.

Now there is a nano PIL against the said Jail restaurant & Lounge, aptly named. For nano Rane it is a nano inconvenience which we are sure nano Rane will overcome using his nano influence. As Sri R. R. Patil would have said, “Bade bade shaheron main chhoti chhoti bateyn hoti rehti hain.”
